Older drivers

25th November 2012: Many people pass their driving test when they are young, and this licence to drive stays with that person until they choose to stop driving - in to old age. Being able to drive gives a person freedom to travel and independence, whether that be to go shopping or to visit friends and relatives. Most people, especially when their partner has passed away, depend on their ability to drive to enable them to continue doing what they need to do.

Theory preparation

30th October 2012: If you are studying for your theory and hazard perception test there are a number of publications you can get to help you prepare. Remember taking your driving test is different to school exams. You may have seen your school exams as a chore - a means to an end, but you only need to pass your driving test once and you will keep your driver's licence for the rest of your life without any further testing. Your theory test then should not be seen as a means to an end - the theory is the rules of the road, it is there to guide you and help you keep safe on the roads and should not be taken lightly.

Choosing a driving instructor

15th October 2012: To become a driving instructor, individuals have to go through rigorous testing to make sure that they are suitable for the job. Driving instructors firstly have to sit a theory and hazard perception test, much the same as learner drivers only the score required to pass is much higher. Secondly instructors have to sit a practical test, encompassing all elements of driving and all the manoeuvres. Finally instructors have to sit a test, which assesses their ability to teach pupils to the desired level.
